For the Win

For the Win
“At the end of the game, the team with the most points on the board is going to win.” – John Madden
It all comes down to points, and if Pacific Mighty “O” did anything in 2021, it was score points. During the regular season, they averaged 105 pts/gm over 13 games. The ended with a 10 game win streak. Once in the playoffs, they were as consistent as consistent can be. First round of the playoffs, they scored 99 and 102 for their 201. In the Black Sheep Battle, they slayed the reigning Black Sheep, The Jalopy Faces, by scoring 106 in each week for a total of 212pts, leaving their single week over week average 103.25 pts/gm. That’s consistency. So, that brings us to the necessary dirty work left to Management at the end of each season… On behalf of The Family Battle Federation and its owners, of both mediocre teams and questionable morals, congratulations to Pacific Mighty “O” on becoming The 2020 Black Sheep. Alright Pacific Mighty “O”!

And the awards go to…
The ninth ever Black Sheep – Pacific Mighty “O”.

Damn Lies
“There are three types of lies – lies, damn lies, and statistics.” – Benjamin Disraeli
> Pacific Mighty “O” had 8 games of 100pts or more in 2021. From 2015 through 2020, Pacific Mighty “O” had…8 games of 100pts or more. In 2014, though, before that run? They had…8 games of 100pts or more. The season closest to either of those in FBF history was Scrappy Doo’s in 2016 with 6 games of 100pts or more.

> The 66pt margin of victory for Pacific Mighty “O” was the third largest win in a Black Sheep Battle (Who Draft 128pts ’19, Jalopy Faces 76pts ’20).

> And yes, Management’s Week 3 prophecy held true – Pacific Mighty “O” is now the ninth different team to win The Black Sheep across the entire nine season history of The FBF.

Next Season
“When you have great players, playing great, well that’s great football!” – John Madden
Ah, great football. Who knows what that looks like anymore? Well, Pacific Mighty “O”, sure, but do any of us talk to them anymore after this whole Black Sheep thing, anyway? Two teams are exempt since they didn’t play “O” this season (Scrappy Doo’s and Who Drafted), but the other 13 of us did. Heck, Jalopy Faces and Practice Squad got two shots at them. At least the Faces tied them one time. And to think, back in Week 1, 107-99…Dusty Desert Dogs won and made it look so easy. Boy were we fooled.

Sherlock’s Deduction (4-5) 2-1 in playoffs
“When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” – Sherlock Holmes

Cheers to another great season. Next season is the big 1-0. That’s right a DECADE of FBF football is about to come to pass. Hopefully everyone joins for another season of generally awful football.

Happy New Year – Management
